Make a contribution to help renovate and improve an 11,000 square foot facility located in the heart of the Downcity Arts District. The Providence Black Repertory Company’s cultural and educational center will house quality artistic performances, host live musical acts, offer a new community stage for young people and their families, and is home to the new Xxodus Café.  In addition, major naming opportunities available; please contact our development office for more information.
ANNUAL CONTRIBUTORS FUND
Help the Providence Black Rep sustain its vital mission "to bring people together, provoke thought, inspire hope, and create understanding," by becoming an Annual Contributor. Through this Fund, you have the option to give to one or more initiatives provided on a yearly basis.

MATINEE HOST FUND
Sponsor one or more important programs that helps make theatre accessible to underserved communities in your neighborhood and others:

The People’s Matinee (Pay-What-You-Can-Family Sundays) has treated thousands of neighboring groups that are unable to afford general ticket prices to an afternoon of theatre. The People’s Matinee is a popular favorite among new, nontraditional, and underserved audiences, such as; members of active black churches in the region, organized black sororities and fraternities in neighboring colleges, and families of youth who participate in regionally-acclaimed Black Rep education programs.

The Student (School Day) Matinee provides discounted tickets for school groups of all ages to participate in an active experience through theatre. Students are given the opportunity to engage in a lively dialogue with the performers, members of the creative staff and students from other schools at the end of every matinee performance. Additionally, the School Day Matinee program also generates study guides that help students bridge the gap between an entertaining experience and challenge them to ask the bigger questions, find possible applications to their own lives, the lives of people around them, or parallels to events happening in the world today.

What is the Color of Philanthropy?

Among many Black and other communities of color, philanthropy is seen as "giving back" because one is a part of the community and "it is the right thing to do;" it is not seen as generosity, or philanthropy in a traditional sense, but as an individual’s obligation to his/her people. As a result, many acts of philanthropy are personal and directly made to the individual in need, outside of the structure of a nonprofit organization; this informal philanthropy is a strong tradition among Blacks and other people of color.
