8:00 PM: REGIE GIBSON and JOHN LEGEND
Poet, songwriter, author, workshop facilitator, and educator REGIE GIBSON has performed, taught, and lectured at schools, universities, theaters and various other venues on two continents and in seven countries, most recently in Havana, Cuba. Regie and his work appear in the New Line Cinema film love jones, based largely on events in his life.
To hear John Legend is to know that music hasn't lost its soul. This soulful brother (neé John Stephens) has a powerful voice and a classic songwriting style that will take you back to the days when people really could write and really could sing. This former child prodigy, who has been singing and playing piano since he was a toddler, is an amazingly gifted performer. His music is soulful, sexy, upbeat and fresh, infectiously blending his influences in classic soul, hip-hop, gospel and reggae.
