Madison, Wisconsin's acoustic Hip Hop horn hypernauts destroy crowds worldwide with trail-blazing acoustic music that is as diverse as it is banging. Youngblood runs the gamut from raw, New Orleans-inspired jams to straight-up-and-down Hip Hop to Brazilian to Classical chamber music meets Spoken Word. The group's sousaphonist, Arian Macklin, cuts new ground for brass players, providing the band with DJ effects, cuts, scratching, and vocals at the same time (multiphonics), while MC/snare drummer David Henzie-Skogen contributes traditional Afro-Brazilian percussion, water jugs, gourds, congas, bamboo staves, bells and tambourine, not to mention vocals. Add to this some of the tightest, loudest, most blazing horn players walking the planet and you complete the equation. By invoking all manner of musical and cultural styles without marginalizing their originators or performers, YoungBlood Brass Band is truly something to be heard.
