MAS CAMP is a cultural tradition that emerged out of the African, European and Native traditions of the Caribbean islands which culminates in Carnival.

The Providence Black Repertory Company is honoring this ritual during Providence Sound Session ’06 with its 3nd Annual MAS CAMP. The Masquerade Camp will include a series of workshops for the Providence community to create masks, banners and costumes for inclusion in the Providence Sound Session Parade which marks the beginning of the end of this seven day music festival.

MAS CAMP will be an event for people of all colors, nationalities, ages, and languages to participate in an African tradition of masked revelry in our capitol city. So come out and meet other people who want to contribute to the Providence community, participate in the revelry, don a costume and “play mas”!
